Treehouse, provides more than 8,000 youth in foster care in Washington with academic and other essential support to graduate from high school and pursue their dreams. They needed to hire a mission-oriented HR Director with strong fluency in racial equity to advance the Treehouse work culture.
Treehouse engaged Big Wave to help create a detailed job description and equitable interview process. To unearth the details, Chris Englin met with key stakeholders and the HR team, spending time with the passionate staff at the heart of the Treehouse mission. Not only did this involve Big Wave’s trademark recruitment approach, Chris Englin also went above and beyond to conduct her search: She ramped up on her knowledge of trauma-informed training and secondary trauma, so she could deeply understand the needs of this one-of-a-kind organization. This exceptionally targeted search went beyond the Seattle market, and allowed the organization to happily relocate the most qualified candidate back to Seattle.
Big Wave found an ideal candidate who Treehouse hired. As a result, the former CEO shared: “I was delighted to work with Chris Englin to find an HR Director to lead our human resource function and complete multiple initiatives to make Treehouse a Best Place to Work, rooted in racial equity, emotional intelligence, and trauma-informed practices. Chris listened carefully to understand the technical and cultural elements critical for this hire, and helped us select a truly remarkable professional who is an exceptional match for our current needs. I am beyond grateful!” –Janis Avery, Former Treehouse CEO
